Top 10 Best New Upcoming Video Game Releases in 2015 - news247today

The biggest video game launches of the year are behind us. We saw everything from fantastic RPGs like Dragon Age: Inquisition to open-world first-person shooters like Far Cry 4 and everything in between. Soon, publishers and journalistic outlets will be talking nonstop about which title deserves a game of the year award, and before you know it, the year 2015 will arrive.
There is a plethora of excellent games coming in the next year, and this time, all the best titles aren’t being pushed to the holiday season. In fact, 10 much-anticipated video games are launching in the first six months of 2015 alone, making it a great time to upgrade to aPlayStation 4 or Xbox One if you haven’t already. Read on to see which games are worth paying attention to in the first half of 2015.

1. Dying Light

Release Date: January 27 | Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Dying Light is the next zombie-infested game from Techland, the developer that brought theDead Island franchise to the world. Dying Light is different from Dead Island in several respects. Sure, they’re both first-person, open-world zombie games with a heavy focus on melee combat, but Dying Light features freerunning. If it ends up anything like Mirror’s Edge with hordes of the undead peppered throughout, count me in.

Pre-order Dying Light here.

2. Evolve

Release Date: February 10 | Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
From the people who made the amazing co-op game Left 4 Dead comes Evolve, a five-player, four-versus-one shooting game. Basically, a team of four hunters comprised of different classes like trappers and medics take on a fifth player who controls a giant monster. The beast can eat wildlife spread across the diverse maps to grow bigger and stronger, while the hunters must use their abilities cooperatively to take the creature down. Sounds like a fun time to me, no matter what side I’m on.

Pre-order Evolve here.

3. The Order: 1886

Release Date: February 20 | Platform: PS4
What’s most alluring about The Order: 1886 is its unusual premise: It’s 1886 (obviously) in London, and you play as a knight in an order of protectors sworn to keep the world safe from monsters half man and half animal. The knights aren’t necessarily completely human themselves, featuring rapid-healing abilities derived from drinking a substance called Black Water and special powers due to the steampunk-like setting the game takes place in. With an intriguing plot, setting, cast of characters and gameplay, The Order is shaping up to be one interesting game.

Pre-order The Order: 1886 here.

4. Battlefield Hardline

Release Date: March 17 | Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC
The Battlefield series is doing something new to get the upper hand in its eternal battle for dominance over Call of DutyBattlefield Hardline takes the fight from ravaged and desolated war zones to the streets of Los Angeles and Miami in cops-versus-robbers shootouts. InHardline, you play as either a criminal or a law enforcement officer as chases and firefights take you across entire cities. 5. Bloodborne

Release Date: March 24 | Platforms: PS4
From Software, the developers of the infamous Dark Souls series, is bringing PlayStation 4 owners Bloodborne in 2015. Like the franchise it mimics, Bloodborne is a third-person fantasy RPG full of dark and gritty undertones. Players will have to be more offensive this time around to survive the dense and consistent waves of enemies they’ll face. But will the game end up being as punishing and ruthlessly difficult as Dark Souls? Only time will tell.

Pre-order Bloodborne here.

6. Mortal Kombat X

Release Date: April 14 | Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC
We’ve all played a Mortal Kombat game by now, right? The newest games are three-dimensional fighters known for their gore. The combat is brutal, as are the unique and sickening fatalities each character can pull off. New to the series is the ability to interact with the environment, using it as a weapon. The energy meter from the previous game returns, allowing fighters to use special x-ray moves that show a character’s bones shattering as you beat him to death. Yikes.

Pre-order Mortal Kombat X here.

7. Mighty No. 9

Release Date: April | Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, 3DS, PSVita, PC
A new Mega Man game hasn’t released in a while, but that doesn’t mean the awesome platforming series is dead. Comcept, an indie studio spearheaded by previous Capcom producer Keiji Inafune, took to Kickstarter to fund a spiritual successor to the series: Mighty No. 9. This isMega Man in all but name, featuring the two-dimensional action of a blue hero with special powers. If you’ve ever loved a Mega Man game, Mighty No. 9 should be on your radar, especially considering it’s basically coming to every console imaginable.

The third game in the series will feature huge beasts Garalt of Rivia, the protagonist, can hunt across a world 30 times larger than previous entries in the series. For those who haven’t played the first two games, that’s a huge amount of land. In fact, it might be one of the biggest open worlds ever created for an RPG.

9. Batman: Arkham Knight

Release Date: June 2 | Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Rocksteady shook the world when they released Batman: Arkham Asylum to critical and commercial acclaim. Now, after two games, the same studio is ready to close out the series with Arkham Knight, in which Batman will face off against Scarecrow and other adversaries that want to kill him off for good. Super Bowl 2015: Tom Brady Wants to Give His MVP Truck to Malcolm Butler - news247today

Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady said today he wants to give his MVP prize, a Chevy Colorado truck, to the man who intercepted the ball and led to the New England Patriots's fourth title.
"I'd love to [give Malcolm the truck]," Brady said on Boston sports radio station WEEI. "We're going to figure out how to make that happen."
Wilson, an undrafted rookie from West Alabama, has been lauded as a hero by Patriots fans for catching the winning interception at the one-yard line with 20 seconds left in the Patriots' 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Butler, 24, was a cashier at a Popeyes restaurant in Mississippi in 2008.
"It's an incredible play, and not only that, that's the type of plays Malcolm makes for our team," Brady said, according to ESPN. "A guy like Malcolm who makes that type of quick, instinctive plays, that's one of his strong suits. I don't think it surprised any of us players because that's what his skill set is."
What may be Butler's new truck was also the same model that was awkwardly presented to San Francisco Giants pitcher and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner back in Oct. 2014.

Eero Wants to Zap Your Home's Wi-Fi Dead Zones - news247today

Though far from the days of dial-up Internet, wireless routers suffer their share of problems: dead zones, buffering, unintelligible passwords.
Which is why Eero is launching a new home Wi-Fi system. "This is not a router; it's a network," the company says.
Unless you live in a studio apartment, it can be difficult for a single router to cover an entire home, with all those walls and furniture getting in the way.
"One of my good friends can't get online from his kitchen. Another set up two networks to cover her home—but printing works on only one," Eero CEO and co-founder Nick Weaver wrote in a blog post. "My old coworker talks about the 'special chair' he sits in so that he can stream House of Cards."
Enter the Eero, which promises improved coverage so you can stream video and send emails from anywhere in the house, even the backyard.
"For the first time, your home Wi-Fi isn't going to be a black box," Weaver said. "You'll always know exactly what's going on: which devices are using your network, how much bandwidth those device are using, and how your Internet service is performing."
Eero says its solution differs from a typical range extender because range extenders usually "have a single wireless radio, which means the same radio that's communicating with your iPad is also responsible for relaying data from your router at the same time."
"In order to be compatible with older wireless devices, like Dad's 5lb. laptop, single-radio extenders use only the heavily clogged 2.4GHz radio frequency band," Eero said. "Eero nodes each have two radios – one for communicating with iPhones, laptops, and other devices and one for communicating with the other Eeros that make up your network. Depending on the current network conditions, Eeros will automatically tune their radios between the 2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands to avoid interference."
Once installed, the gadgets can be set up and managed from a mobile phone via Bluetooth; up to 10 Eeros can be connected to a single modem—no IT degree needed.
And forget searching for the blasted Wi-Fi password: Create one from the app and text guests your log-in information; the app gives you to the power to choose how long their access lasts.
Eero is available now to pre-order; the individual device costs $125 (originally $199), while a three-pack is available for a discounted $299 (originally $499). Your purchase will be followed by a company email, offering a unique referral code for $10 back.

NTSB: Selfies caused fatal Colo. plane crash - news247today

NTSB: Selfies caused fatal Colo. plane crash

DENVER— A pilot who lost control while taking selfies was likely the cause of a small plane crash that killed two men this past spring, according to federal investigators.
Pilot Amritpal Singh, 29, and his passenger were killed instantly when Singh's Cessna 150K crashed into a wheat field shortly after midnight May 31. The wreckage was discovered around 7 MT that morning.
A GoPro camera mounted to the plane's windshield recorded Singh and several other passengers taking selfies on their cellphones during a series of short flights before the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board found. While the GoPro didn't record the flight where Singh crashed, investigators portrayed a pattern of the pilot taking selfies and possibly texting while giving rides to passengers above Front Range Airport, about 30 miles east of Denver.
"During the climb-out portion of flight, the pilot uses his cellphone to take a self photograph. The camera's flash was activated and illuminated the cockpit area," NTSB investigators reported. "During the climb-out phase, the pilot was seen making keyboard entries to his cell phone and additional keyboard entries on a portion of flight consistent with the downwind leg."
Singh landed safely after that flight, picked up another passenger, and took off again, crashing a few minutes later.
NTSB investigators said the evidence suggests that Singh got distracted, then disoriented, stalled the plane, and crashed. Singh also lacked certification for flying at night with instruments and for carrying passengers at night.
"It is likely that cellphone use during the accident flight distracted the pilot and contributed to the development of special disorientation and subsequent loss of control," the NTSB said.

Obama will send US troops to fight ISIS if they get nukes

Obama will send US troops to fight ISIS if they get nukes

US President Barack Obama has, for the first time, admitted he would deploy US ground troops to Syria and Iraq to fight Islamic State - that is, if the extremist group obtained a nuclear weapon.

“If we discovered that [Islamic State] had gotten possession of a nuclear weapon, and we had to run an operation to get it out of their hands, then, yes,” Obama told reporters at a news conference in Brisbane, Australia, on Sunday. “I would order it."

Since Operation Inherent Resolve - or US-led airstrikes against Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL) - began in August, President Obama has maintained that he would not send a large fighting force to Syria and Iraq to confront the jihadist network, which has come to control large areas of the two adjacent Middle Eastern nations.

However, Obama authorized the deployment of about 1,500 troops to Iraq earlier this month, doubling the American military presence in the country. Yet all soldiers sent to the region are there to “advise” Iraqi forces and not engage in combat, according to official explanations.

US officials said there is no evidence that Islamic State possesses or could easily attain a nuclear weapon.

Last week, Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top position in the US military, said in testimony on Capitol Hill that the Pentagon is “certainly considering” whether to install US military advisers within Iraqi combat units fighting Islamic State.

Dempsey and other top military officials have said they are willing to recommend American ground force troops to fight Islamic State, a group fostered by US and its allies in the region seeking to destabilize any Syria-Iran-Iraq alliance.

In Australia, Obama said he expects Dempsey to offer honest military advice, even if those suggestions cross Obama’s supposed aversion to sending US troops to fight rather than just advise.

“Yes, there are circumstances in which [Dempsey] could envision the deployment of US troops. That’s true everywhere, by the way,” Obama said. “That’s his job, is to think about various contingencies. And, yes, there are always circumstances in which the United States might need to deploy US ground troops.”

Ohio police kill mentally ill woman by slamming head on sidewalk

Ohio police allegedly kill mentally ill woman by slamming head on sidewalk
A mentally ill Ohio woman is dead after a Cleveland police officer allegedly slammed her head into the pavement right outside her family’s home.

The incident began when Tanesha Anderson’s family called police explaining she was creating a disturbance. The 37-year-old woman was mentally ill and suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. After police came to the house, a discussion followed in which it was agreed that Anderson would go to hospital for an evaluation.

Police reports and witnesses agree on what happened up until this point, but not on what followed next.

According to the family, officers went too far, and during a struggle one of them slammed Anderson to the sidewalk, where she died.

"They killed my sister," her 40-year-old brother, Joell Anderson, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer with tears in his eyes. "I watched it."

According to police, the officers escorted Anderson to a police vehicle, where she began to actively resist them. Officers placed her in handcuffs and tried to put her in the back of the squad car.

"The woman began to kick at officers," Sgt. Ali Pillow said in a press release. "A short time later the woman stopped struggling and appeared to go limp. Officers found a faint pulse on the victim and immediately called EMS."
However, Joell Anderson disagreed.

"She was more of a danger to herself than others," he said to the newspaper.

Anderson agreed that the two male officers escorted his sister to the car, but said she sat herself in the backseat before she became nervous about the confined space and tried to get out. Police struggled to keep her in the car, and an officer eventually drew a Taser. The brother said he begged the officer not to use the weapon on his sister.

Tanesha Anderson called out for her brother and mother while an officer repeatedly pressed down on her head to get her into the backseat. After several attempts, the officer used a takedown move to force her to the pavement, Joell Anderson said.

“The officer placed his knee on Tanesha's back and handcuffed her. She never opened her eyes or spoke another word,” the brother said.
Anderson described how he asked the officers for help with his unconscious sister, but they refused until a female officer called to the scene arrived. His sister lay on the sidewalk for 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived. Anderson was taken to Cleveland Clinic, where she was pronounced dead.
The Cleveland Division of Police Use of Deadly Force Investigation Team is now investigating the case, but the officers involved have not been suspended or put on desk duty.
